How To Fix Outlook IMAP Timeout Error

Sometimes outlook will send you a timeout error message saying  “Your IMAP server has closed the connection. This may occur if you have left the connection idle for too long”. In this article, we will show you how to change your outlook settings.

To do this follow these steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu then select E-mail Accounts.
  2. Select the “View or change existing e-mail accounts” then click Next.
  3. Select the e-mail account you’re wanting to change then click the Change button.
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. Select the Advanced tab.
  6. Find Server Timeout and drag the slider to the far right side which should say 10 minutes delay.
  7. Click Apply and then OK.

You’ve now adjusted your timeout settings and should stop any future issues.
