How to manage account passwords in WHM

In this article, you will learn how to manage account passwords in WHM. There are two ways you’re able to change an accounts password.

The first option is to modify the account’s password by entering one yourself, This should be done if a user has forgotten their password or the account has been compromised.

The second option is forcing the user to change their password, This will prompt them to enter a new password the next time they log in.

How to modify account passwords in WHM

To modify an accounts password, follow these steps:

  1. Login to WHM.
    If you’re unsure of how to log in to WHM please follow this article.
  2. Type Password in the search bar located on the left-hand side.
  3. Click on password modification.
  4. Select the account you wish to change the password for.
  5. Enter the new password or click generate to create a secure password.
  6. Confirm the password.
  7. Click Enable Digest Authentication if the account uses WebDisk with Windows.
  8. Press Change Password.

How to force an account to change their password in WHM

To force an accounts password to change when they next log in, follow these steps:

  1. Login to WHM.
    If you’re unsure of how to log in to WHM please follow this article.
  2. Type Password in the search bar located on the left-hand side.
  3. Click on force password change.
  4. select the account in the force column.
  5. Click submit.
    The customer will be prompted to change their password.
