# How to setup redirects in cPanel

In this article, you will learn how to setup redirects in cPanel. Redirects are often used to redirect visitors from an old page on a website to a new one, The old URL may be invalid which can be bad for SEO. There are two different redirects you can use in cPanel:

**Permanent 301** - A 301 redirect means that the page has permanently moved to a new location.
 **Temporary 302** - A 302 redirect means that the move is only temporary and the original link will work in the future.

## How to create a redirect in cPanel

To create a redirect in cPanel, follow these steps:

1. **Log in** to cPanel.
    If you're unsure of how to log in to cPanel please [follow this article](https://conorbradley.co.uk/kb/how-to-access-cpanel/).
2. In the search bar, Type **Redirects** then click it.
3. In the dropdown menu **select your redirection type.**
4. **Select your domain name** from the dropdown menu.
5. Type the page location you wish to **redirect from**.
6. Type the domain name or page you wish to **redirect to**.
    This must include HTTPS:// or www.
7. Select if you would like to redirect the www. version too.
    By default, you should redirect all versions
8. **Click the checkbox** to enable wild card redirects.
    Checking the Wild Card Redirect Box will redirect all files within a directory to the same filename in the redirected directory.
    You cannot use a Wild Card Redirect to redirect your main domain to a different directory on your site.
9. Click **Add**.

## How to remove a redirect in cPanel

To remove a redirect in cPanel, follow these steps:

1. **Log in** to cPanel.

2. In the search bar, Type **Redirects** then click it.
3. Under Current Redirects, Find the redirect that you wish to remove
4. Click **Delete**.
5. Click **Remove Redirect**.
