What Is A Subdomain, Addon Domain & Parked Domain

What is a Subdomain?

A subdomain is a name added to your original domain name for example “example.conorbradley.co.uk“.When a subdomain is created, it creates another folder within the public_html directory. The folders name will be related to your subdomain like ours would be called example due too the URL example.conorbradley.co.uk

You can create a subdomain from c-panel by heading to the domains section then clicking subdomains. From there you’ll be able to create a subdomain from your selected domain name.

What is an Addon Domain?

An addon domain is a completely different domain name that shares no relation with your other domains. When adding an addon domain name you’ll receive a new folder in your file manager. Some hosting companies only allow addon domain names when you upgrade however if you’re on our hosting we support unlimited addon domains until you run out of storage space. The addon domain will receive its own email addresses, forwarders, subdomains just like your main domain name.

To add an addon domain go to your c-panel, domains > addon domains > add your new domain. You will need to change your name servers to your hosting providers if you haven’t already.

What is a Parked Domain?

A parked domain is a domain that isn’t displaying a website this could be an extension of your primary domain for example if we bought conorbradley.net and conorbradley.com domain names, we would want to add these as a parked domain name so other people cant use them. With a parked domain name you can redirect it to your primary website (conorbradley.co.uk) through its settings.

To add a parked domain go to c-panel, Domains > Parked Domains, and complete the steps.
