To configure Outlook to work with your email account, follow these steps:
- Start the Outlook program on your Windows device. This can be done by selecting the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner and then searching for Outlook.
- If it is your first time using Outlook you will be prompted to enter your email address otherwise Select Add Account in the left-hand menu. The Add New Account dialog box will now appear.
- In the suggested accounts text box, type the email address of the account you created in your hosting control panel.
- Under Select your email provider Information, select the type of incoming mail server you want to use. We will be using IMAP as it is the most preferred method:
If you want to use POP, select POP3.
If you want to use IMAP, select IMAP.
- In the Password text box, type the password for the email account.
- In the Incoming mail server text box, type either mail.domain.com, where domain.com represents your domain name or the specific mail server name provided by your hosting provider. In this instance, we will be typing mail.sheffieldwebsitedesigner.co.uk
- If you are using IMAP for incoming mail, in the Incoming server (IMAP) text box, type 993, and then in the secure connection type select SSL/TLS.
- If you are using POP for incoming mail, in the Incoming server (POP3) text box, type 995, and then select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box.
- In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) text box, type either mail.domain.com, where domain.com represents your domain name or the specific mail server name provided by your hosting provider.In this instance,e we will be typing mail.sheffieldwebsitedesigner.co.uk
- In the Outgoing server (SMTP) text box, type 465, and then in the secure connection type select SSL/TLS.
- Select Continue in the bottom right corner
- Select Continue again to sync your IMAP account
- Click Next
- Select whether you would like to send data to Microsoft then select accept
- Select Continue
- Select Apply settings if you wish for Outlook to apply your default language, time etc. otherwise select Skip.
Your email account is now set up in Outlook and ready for use.
