Setting up email on an Android device is perfect for staying connected where ever you are for business or personal. This guide will walk you through configuring your cPanel email account using the default Google email app (Gmail) that is installed on all Android devices.
Step 1: Open Gmail Settings and Navigate to Accounts
- Tap on the Gmail App on your Android device.
- Tap the 3 horizontal lines at the top left on your Android device.
- Scroll down to the bottom and select Settings.
- Tap Add Account to begin setting up your email.
Step 2: Select Email Account Type
- Tap Other located at the bottom
Step 3: Enter Your Email Address
- In the Enter Your Email Address field, type your full email address. We will be typing conor@sheffieldwebsitedesigner.co.uk
- Tap Next
- Tap Personal IMAP
- Enter Your Password
- Tap Next
Step 4: Configure Incoming Mail Server Settings
- A server box will pop up at the bottom. You will need to enter your incoming server address. It is usually mail.yourdomainname.com so we will be entering mail.sheffieldwebsitedesigner.co.uk
- Tap Next
Step 5: Configure Outgoing Mail Server Settings
- A SMTP server box will pop up at the bottom. You will need to enter your outgoing server address. It is usually mail.yourdomainname.com so we will be entering mail.sheffieldwebsitedesigner.co.uk
- Tap Next
Step 6: Set Up Account Sync Preferences
- The Account Options page will appear.
- In the Sync Frequency dropdown, select how often your device should check for new emails.
- To receive notifications for new emails, check Notify me when email arrives.
- To enable the syncing of emails, check Sync email from this account.
- If using IMAP, check Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi to save data.
- Tap Next to finish the setup.
Step 7: Finishing Account Setup
- In the Account Name (optional) field, enter a label for this email account (e.g., Work Email).
- In the Your Name field, enter the display name that should appear in your outgoing emails.
- Tap Next to complete the setup process.
